Over 100 years of leading edge tyre technology

The TM800 is the most advanced low profile radial tractor tyre yet developed. It marks the evolution of the low profile segment pioneered by Pirelli in the 1980's with the TM700.

In order to maximise productivity, tractors are nowadays used for a wide range of purposes, which consequently means that modern agricultural tyres must perform well in a variety of task, often requiring contrasting characteristics:
traction, high loading capability, durability, resistance, safety and comfort are all winning features necessary to fully satisfy farmers' requirements.

With its extra large tread width, the TM8O0 provides maximum grip in heavy soil conditions at low pressures:
the comparison between its footprint and references is significant (fig. 1).

This increased footprint spreads the tractor's weight over a greater area, thus reducing soil compaction, which as we all know, is the enemy of root development and therefore of higher crop yield.

At the same time, thanks to its rigid tread, optimised structure and sidewall profile, the TM800 can be used effectively on the road, with an excellent level of performance and high durability.

A tractor's full power is required during soil preparation and ploughing. The tyre plays a vital role in transmitting this power (over 200 HP in top-of-the-range tractors) to the ground, with a high degree of efficiency and without undue slippage.

In these conditions, the TM800 makes excellent use of its design features, with each part of the tyre making an important contribution.

The tread of the TM800, which is the main factor necessary to transform the tractor's power into traction, is a development of Pirelli's road-going know-how applied to agriculture.

The shapes, sizes and number of ribs, characterised by a differentiated geometrical angle between the central part of the lug and the shoulder and the shoulder area, as well as the lug height (up 5% compared with a standard radial tyre), the wall angles and the radial connection to the base of the tyre are all features that have been meticulously calculated. They ensure that the vehicle's power is transmitted to the ground with the maximum efficiency, on all surfaces and in all environmental conditions.

Because of its extra-large tread and its ability to function at the low inflation pressures (down to 0.4 bar/6 Psi), the TM800 fully satisfies modern agricultural requirements. It is essential that the tractor does not alter the ideal porosity of the soil, which is vital in maintaining the correct levels of oxygen and water permeation for optimum root development.
